Once again i have a thread about an upcoming stage show i have been asked to enter.

The Head Teacher in Performing Arts asked me to do some card tricks because they have cameras set around the stage/hall where i will perform.
I was thinking of ending with linking rings its also a bit of comedy as well.

My friend who works in a circus came over today so we could work out a routine heres what we came up with.

Intro: introduce my self tell them a bit about me and get a spectator selected in a funny way.

Ask them to think of a card and tell the audience then i say " Wouldnt it be great if i had that card in my pocket" and then say " No sorry i cant do that yet"

Then here are the tricks i will perform.

Ambitious card ( Shortened )
Hoffzy Osbourne ( Aces will already be on the table at the start )
Red Hot Mama ( i did this last so i could say how about we put the cards away and get the rings )
Shoot Ogawa's Ninja Rings Routine.

If they say the cameras aren't avaliable ill still be able to do linking rings

or should i ditch them all and do Floating Rose

so if anyone has advice this will be my first time on stage performing magic i have been on stage acouple of time doing music.

So please opinons if you think i should drop something just do 2 things or one.

Cheers Tom

shoot's ninja ring routine is amazing. I had the pleasure of watching an assisstant of his perform it in LA. If you can pull off the whole thing I would definetally reccommend keeping it in there. Perhaps upgrading the ring size could help though, depending on the stage and audience size. :)

I don't know how hoffzy osborne would play out though.. because the audience may wonder how they all saw the same card.

Of course theres also that saying to think about: "Always leave them wanting more." from that perspective, performing a single, very powerfull effect could play to you're advantage in the future.

Just my two cents.

edit: just thought of this; instead of saying "no sorry, I can't do that yet" on the introduction / spectator picking gag, you could slowly reach down to your pocket and say something like: "In my pocket... is..." begin to pull something out of the pocket (the boxed deck) "a full pack of 52 playing cards". This should still instill a more relaxed atmosphere but also act as more of a transition into your first effect.

As an afterthought to that, you could cull the card they stated to the top of the deck as you spread it to should them all the cards are different (for example) and when you turn the deck over, you can state that "the interesting part is that the card you thought of, is on top of them all." [reveal it], [ACR follows]. This would both act as a continuation of the introduction / transition into the ACR, and also convince them of the fairness of the deck itself.

again, just my two cents :p
