Temperature & More

You guys know that patter a lot of people use when they perform a trick where they find the card that revolves around temperature? The one where the magician "will find your card because it is warmer than the rest of the deck, because it has been handled a bit by [the spectator]" and so on.

Anyways, do you guys think this is actually possible as a method? More so of a method to just play around with, not necessarily one you would actually perform. And also, probably not just warm purely from handling it.

This is kinda just to get some ideas flowing, and to have a discussion out here on the forums. So what are some plausible ways of maybe making this happen? I've got a couple Ideas, but wanna here your Ideas first.

Also, what other patters with plausible scenarios do you think might be possible in real life.

I think a card would have to be warm enough that a volunteer would wonder why it's so warm before we were able to use a "heat seeking" location method. Also, you'd have to find it pretty quickly, as the warmed card would warm up the cards around it. Cards are not good insulators.

I can't really think of many concepts currently. Muscle reading is a valid technique that I have used once or twice.

Interesting. I was thinking of something like bio freeze or something that will quickly out a layer of old on to the card, allowing you to feel your way to it. Granted, you could just put a piece of wax and feel for that.

Does Biofreeze actually get cold, or does it just feel cold on our skin? Genuine question, there, I've never used it or anything like it. I'd also think that would get the cards greasy, but again, I could just not know how it works.

I'm sure they would get all greasy, so its probably not the best idea.

And I think it actually does get cold since the bottle/tube is always cold to the touch, and it feels cold leaving the tube, and gets colder when exposed to air.

Actually, the biofreeze might be kinda good for an effect when you are just with your friends and have a ton of empty soda cans or something. You have them select a can, and hold it up as they draw a picture on the bottom. While this happens, you are applying a bit of biofreeze to the end of the can. Then you turn around as your friends mix up the cans, and you use some sort of cool method to find it while feeling for the cold can.
