His first Deck Of Cards...
THE NEXT DAY...
Ryan Scoured the street in search of "Joe's Magic Shoppe." He couldn't wait to see all of the things Joe had in stock and see what the man himself ad to say. Any advice would be useful to him as he started to learn magic. He was confident that magic was his "thing".
Finally he saw it. A medium sized building with large class windows on either side of the wooden door. The window displays were filled with assortments of different objects. Cups, Spongey Balls, and much more. He couldn't wait to get inside.
Slowly, he reached out and grabbed the large door knob and twisted it. The door slkowly creaked open and he walked inside.
It was one of the strangest places he had ever been inside but it excited him. One wall was covered with packaged items such as a set of cups and balls, some chop cups, a Zoom-Zoom deck, A ciggarete Through Card, and Magicians wax and invisible thread.
another wall was composed of a whole bunch of racks filled with organized sections of DVD's such as something called Ivanish, Indecent, Dangerous, that one had 2 DVD's, The Trilogy, Some different performance DVD's, and a large box set called True Astonishments.
The third wall was all books ranging from begginer books to advanced books. Instructional books to Audiance Management Books, al the way to Presentation and Performance theory books.
The last wall was made of decks of cards. Never had ryan seen so many decks together in one place. There were casino decks, Bicycle Reds and Blues, Tally-Ho Reds and Blues, Tally-Ho Vipers, Black Ghosts, ghosts, Eco edition Decks, Guardianse, Centurions, Propagandas, Hoyle Cards, Aviators, and even one deck of Jerry's Nuggets stored in a locked case.
Off to one side was a checkout counter and in the center of the store were racks filled with accesories and less sought after items like sponge balls and magicians wax.
Ryan was amazed as he looked around, his heart nearly jumping out of his chest.
Then a hand clamped down on his shoulder.
"Are you looking for something, son?" A kind old man asked.
"No. Well, kind of. I'm looking for someone not something. are you Joe?" The Young man replied.
"I sure am." The man retorted. There was something familiar about him.
"I know a guy named Mike. He works at The Grill. He told me to come here and ask your advice on three tricks you think I should learn." Ryan said.
"Oh yea. Mikey is a good guy. So let's have a...Say aren't you that kid that picked up my wallet for me a couple of weeks ago?" He asked.
"Oh Yeah. I thought I knew you from somewhere."
"Thanks for that by the way. Anyway, let's go see what I can do for you. You said you need to learn three tricks well. that's good advice from Mike. Let me see what material might work for you." The man chuckled as he walked over to a bookshelf.
He rifled amongst the books for a while as Ryan turned and let his eyes wander over the hundreds of cards on the wall. The artwork on some of them were som beautiful that he just couldn't look away.
"Okay, here is something that might serve you well." The man said.
"What is it?" Asked Ryan snapping back to attention.
"Well, I am going to let you have a book, no charge. But in exchange I want you to learn only 3. Got that? Only 3 tricks from this book and practice them non-stop until they are perfect and you could do them flawlessly with your eyes closed. When you do that you need to come back and show me the tricks and we'll go on from there. Okay?" The man told Ryan, now very serious.
"Sure." He said excitedly.
"Good." Joe said as he started to bag up the book.
"But one question."
"Shoot." Joe said handing the bag to the boy.
"what is the book called?" Asked Ryan.
"It's called: The Royal Road To Card Magic..." And that was all he said.
