Ok so we have all seen the demos and every thing for thread and know what it is. I am only reviewing the Download because thats all I have so far. The download is over 1gb so it takes a while to downlaod. It comes with how to do the tricks, the history of it, a long version of the preview, and an interview with him.

Effect

Swallow some thread and make it come out your eye. It also comes with also the gypsy thread (torn and restored thread)

Methods

Wayne teaches two different methods of thread. The first of the two is called the geek method. The second is called the the sleight method. I will have reviews for the two methods.

Geek Method

Method

It uses a couple of every day house hold items that should take you only a couple of minutes to find around your house. This method looks painful but Wayne tells you things you can do to make it not painful at all. It is pretty simple and you will hit yourself in the face when you see how he pulls it out. It takes about 5-10 at most to set up and you can have it with you for about 4 hours. Their isn't a reset really but you can use the same thread over again if you wanted to.

Method 9/10

Teaching

If you have seen any of Waynes other products you know that he is a great teacher. He makes sure that you get the trick and understand it well. He shows you what you need to do and were every thing needs to go so that you can perform the trick.

Teaching 10/10

Difficulty

It doesn't really seem hard to perform at all. I haven't tried it yet but it seems like you would be able to do it fairly easy.

Difficulty 3/10

Sleight method

Method

This one uses a small easy to make gimmick. You should have every thing in your house expt for 1 thing but, you should have it if your a magician. It takes longer than the Geek method but it should take you less than 10 minutes. This ways is better for if you want to do it any time. It doesn't have a reset. This way looks very similar to the Geek method but it is done differently. This method is for people who are on the safer side.

Method 7/10

Teaching

He break down how to make the gimmick and how to use it. He is a masterful teacher like always and gives you little tips on how to make the performance better.

Teaching 10/10

Difficulty

This is not hard at all. The hardest thing about it is making the gimmick and that is easy.

Difficulty 3/10

All around

This is a great DVD that will not only help you with this trick but with the presentation of a lot of your other tricks also. He tells you the history around it, when to perform it, who to perform it to, ect.

I would give this DVD a 9.5/10

Edit: Some how the name of the thread got messed up can a mod please change it to "thread review"

I like the Sleight of hand method more, for me its more practical and its very easy to do in all situations.

To a magician the geek method might look better, but to our spectators i think that both methods would have the same impact.

That's what I thought. Then I tried it myself and found the method really wasn't for me. This is a problem with many reviews. You should try something and play with it for a while before just jumping the gun and trying to be the first person to review it.

As I said in a thread earlier today, when I got my first edition Smoke & Mirror decks, I thought they were the best cards I have ever seen. I used them for a while and gradually my opinion of the decks had changed. I'm glad I waited to post my review because if I posted my review of the decks the day after I got them in, then the review would not really be my opinion. (I remember seeing one review where someone just held the deck for 15 minutes. They didn't shuffle them or anything. They just had them for 15 minutes and just held them and called it a review.)

I think you should perform it, try both methods and practice with both methods. Then write the review.

Just my 2 cents.

how did I know someone was going to post a premature review about thread? How did I know?

Should have been a clue that nobody else had posted a review about it yet, and shouldn't have.

Reviews are useless unless the reviewer has at least performed it a couple of times, see how it routines, where it routines in your performances, see what it does or doesn't set people up for

the patter you've come up with etc etc.

Little harsh I know but really people??

I dont know why do you attack this guy so much?
He did wrote a review after he watched a download, and it is soon for all those questions that you are asking, about routining, performing, perfecting, bla bla bla.

But it is a great review about a content of a dvd, and about methods and setup etc... And that is exactly what im looking for in a review, when i have doubts about buying this...

He was reviewing the content of the trick and the DVD- you don't need to perform things several times to write a good review. I've written several reviews for books (such as a huge one for RRTCM), and I'm going to tell you straight up that I haven't performed everything out of that book- I bet there are very people that have. That doesn't make the review or reviewer anything less than what they are.

If he was reviewing the DVD, fine, but he reviewed the effect itself.

The DVD was fantastic.

The intro, was one of the best I had ever seen, WH productions seems to be just as great as Theory 11's videos, if not a little better.

There is an interview in the video that most will find very insightful and you really get a real feel for Wayne. It's the most I've ever heard Wayne talk in one sitting, and I'll tell you I have even MORE respect for Wayne after watching the DVD....

But he reviewed the product and gave the trick a rating, which should not have been done just yet.

See where I'm coming from? I know it sounds a little harsh when you're reading the text I'm typing, but believe me when I say I'm not angry.

Beans25, I 100% agree with you. However, its important to be respectful. Let's not forget that.

I really sincerely apologize if people thought I was yelling or something, and the first post I know I could have phrased better and I'm sorry.

I just thought of an interesting idea. Combine Thread with Wounded (the tears of blood). Sexyness.

My eyes opened up a bit after reading that. Haha, now THAT is taking it to the extreme. I don't know if I would go that far. That is no longer magic. That's... Oh man I don't know what that is!

Yeah, I guess you're right. That goes a little above and beyond magic and becomes...magically induced performance art?

If u pay kryolan products a visit, u should be able to find this product most film industries uses - blood capsules. Put one into your mouth, combining it with wounded's tears of blood, n dun 4get to say "Happy Halloween 2009" or "Saw 6, coming soon..." after the effect

Why did you give the sleight method a lower rating than the geek method? I don't own Thread, but I expected most people would be more appealed towards the sleight method as there is no pain involved. However, the opposite happenend! Most people are saying they prefer the geek method.

Do you care to explain? :D

The geek method was not painful at all for me. With that being said, I performed this for my girlfriend who is in Medical School. I tell her all of my secrets and when she heard this one she flipped. She said that this was one of the worst ideas ever and couldn't believe that they would even sell it.

I like the geek method more, but after listening to her talk for about 20 minutes about all the things that could go wrong with this medically, I will be performing the sleight method from here on out.

theres actually alot more going on in the sleight method when pulling the thread out. its not as easy as the geek method because it takes more practice.

the geek method actually appeals to me more but there is a bit of pain involved. im gonna expiriment with it alittle today and hopefully that will go away.

LOL! I am so going to put that in my presentation somehow.... That is the greatest line ever.... I am gonna do that next Halloween. ;) I don't even own Tears of Blood so I don't even know if you can do that. However, I will so do that if I can.
