most of the times on the dvds, magicians , when there are performing, use the push two cards as a get ready for the double lift.
then during the explanations, they say "i pinky count two cards", strange no ?

They don't want to explain how the pinky count, a complex and difficult move, is done because they want to focus on their effect. They do give you the alternative.

The person above me nailed it. They don't want to go in-depth on another move when they're teaching you one already - It distracts you. If it helps, you could learn the pinky count from Jason England's 1-on-1, available here at theory11. Or, if possible, just use a different type of double lift. I nearly always use the Dr. Daley double lift I learned on Jason England's DL download.

The pinky count is a very invisible (if done correctly) get ready for doubles, triples, quad, and even five card lifts. It is virtually undetectable. The push off get ready is knacky as well but with practice and a tad bit of misdirection you are fine with as well.

As mentioned many times when an effect is being taught whether in a video or in text / book, the author will not go into detail on a particular sleight within the said effect. They merely reference it and then you are expected to go do your homework and learn it.

This is such a great utility, ive been working on it for awhile now and i love it. Its so helpful, i suggest anyone doing card magic work on this.

This really doesn't answer the question, but i thought i would share.
