Hey guys. Just letting people know that if you ordered TA from The Astonishment Project, it should be shipped now or will be very soon. There's no real point to this thread, just wanted to let people know in case they haven't realised/wanted to know (since the whole tihng's been incredibly hush hush as far as release goes).

Cheers

*Sigh* Not stupid at all man - it's just that a certain moderator changed my thread title - as they do for pretty much every thread I create. I really don't get it, it's starting to feel like Ellusionist moderation. Give it a break please?

Anyway - yes, I did order it. ^^

My apologies for cleaning things up and clarifying what the intention of the thread was by modifying the subject. Your original subject line read "TA shipped"? If anything, that was even more confusing than the current, but I digress.

Guys - note that the same rules regarding grammar, punctuation, and so forth apply to the titles of threads as well as individual posts.

Thats cool cant wait to see a review on it. Are you planning on writing a review? I know it will be good if you do.

I really hope we don't any reviews till after people have actually learned and performed this stuff. "Oh man, I just got True Astonishments yesterday and man, this box is awesome. I love how it's made of wood and how the DVD's play when I put them in the DVD player. This is truly Awesome!"

Don't worry Randy, we'll still have those reviews. Better yet, we'll probably see videos of the postman delivering their package, and then we'll get to see them open it! Can't wait.

I saw some kid on youtube a few years ago show a video of him opening a box for the first edition black ghosts. That had to be the most exciting and depressing time of that kids life. "I think I'll show people on youtube what it's like to open a box! I will get a ton of subscribers. =D"

Reminds me of all the boring people performing 3fly or Coin One or whatever. It's like come on man. Add some flavor to your performance. Do a little research and maybe add some humor to your thing.

Anywho, that's usually what bothers me about some magic sites. People will post a review of something like the day they got it. I don't understand how you can review a magic DVD after you've watched it once. Sure maybe with an actual movie or after you've read a book. But Magic DVD's or Books are something you need to take the time to absorb and put to good use.

jon - my apologies, I did not mean to sound so harsh. It did annoy me on one of my previous threads and I feel took away from the purpose of the thread (it was an essay topic) - and I pretty much got bashed because people took the essay the wrong way (which the title was meant to clarify) - but this just happened to be the one that made me speak out on it.

In any case, I only intended to point out that the title would actually have clarified the thread for magicman1212 before it was changed.

Anyway:
No, I won't be writing a review on it, but I'm sure that sooner or later someone will. I agree that it should be a detailed one after working through everything.. I'm not really a review person. I find that what gets reviewed and what magicians actually should be asking are two different things. Does it have instant reset? Is it angle-proof? What rubbish - "How far off the couch do I have to drag my lazy ass in order to perform this effect?" I wrote a review once, it got ignored in favour of 5 lines of crap giving it a rating out of 10, so I'm not even going to bother any more. I'll keep my thoughts to myself and people who actually care.

As most people start to perform you'll learn that instant resets or ending clean isn't exactly what you should be looking for. I believe Ortiz said that if you want to clean up, just do it when everybody is busy looking at the other hand in amazement.

It's not that you shouldn't ask about that sort of thing... I just believe that a lot of people ask about it in the wrong context. Obviously you always need to work out clean ups and angles and so on - but they ask about these things as if they were the be all and end all of tricks, the sole criteria by which the success of a trick should be judged - because they can't be bothered to work on audience management, because they're too lazy to practice harder things until they don't get caught - these things are far more important than any aspect of the effect.

No worries. ;) If you ever feel a modification to the title of a particular thread causes confusion, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM and I'll change it accordingly.

Always here to help.

I don't want to see any full reviews right away either, but I'm all for reading about Ta owners' first impressions after they get it and watch a little.

Mine should be here tomorrow.

This is one of those things I don't think people could review once they get it. Not even first impressions. Because it's a 9 DVD box set with a ton of props.

...You have a first impression take on everything you encounter in life.

Maybe, but if you walk into a room with a hundred different items, how many of those do you get a first impression of? The set in general, sure, but not of each disc etc - which I think is was Randy was expressing.
