I had a wierd idea for a tv magic show.If you have read Da Vinci code or seen the movie, you would remember this:"so dark the con of man" which is actually decoded as "maddona of the rocks".So why cant there be a show where the magician performs an effect and they show a really really hard anagram for the secret of that effect. They could also make it kinda long like david blaine's challenge in his book "mysterious stranger"Will this idea suck or be a hit?Post your opinions.

For the sake of magic, I'd say this would fail epicly. The reason being is that the premise of the show presents magic as a logic puzzle, nothing more. Magic presented as a puzzle ceases to create astonishment but instead wallows as a triviality. Furthermore, there is of course much more to magic than a secret which can be described in one sentence, and certainly much more to learning an effect than a sleight - angles, presentation, timing, etc. What purpose would the show serve? Entertainment at the price of magic, I'd have to oppose the idea.

Sory to say but I've heard/seen some pretty bad ideas for TV shows but this kinda tops the list. The reason being that why would you encourage the specatator to find the method of a trick, wether it be from a really hard anagram or not. And on TV were everyone can watch can see and get the secrets exposed? Bad idea...

I do agree this probably shouldn't belong on television. Ultimately, it would be comparable to a lot of the lame magic shows recently presented: Mindfreak, Phenomenon, etc. With that said, I do love the idea of making people work for a secret. I think it would be an awesome thing to do within the magic community. It could lead into some sort of scavenger hunt during a notable convention or something. And the effect should be one that has its roots embedded in legend: Hindu Rope Climb or Scarnes Aces. I think it would capture the interest of a lot of magicians. Most laymen probably wouldn't care.

I also have to express a difference in opinion to magic and logic puzzles. I feel that a good logic puzzle-- just like a good magic trick-- can capture someone's wonder really well. I feel the two can inspire the same amount of astonishment in an audience; I feel logic puzzles and magic can actually compliment one another really well also. Garrett Thomas is a good example of a magician who uses logic puzzles in his presentation pretty successfully. I think people are just as entertained by being puzzled as being entertained by his actual magic. He blends the two really nicely and it makes for an enjoyable experience for the audience.

Just some food for thought.

I think that, as said before, it would make the audience try to figure out the secret, which is not what you want, but I think that if you took it out of the context of magic, it would be a brilliant idea. the fact is that you are going to end up with the whole audience thinking you are an absurdly clever person, rather than thinking you have super human powers or something. having said that, people will not believe this anyway, because they will put all the best things down to camera tricks. Perhaps it would work...

I'd rather sit through a whole episode of American Idol, naked, while scratching my ass with a cactus before I would watch this show.

Are you kidding me?? One more idea like that and I'll send Mrs. Claus down to pimp slap you. Twice.

At least.

With Love,

Santa
