I recently saw a show on the discovery channel called Urban Legends Revealed where they prove common myths to be true or false. There was one particular story that I thought was interesting enough to tell you guys. And since we don’t have an off topic section, I just put it here. The story goes like this:
A dangerous criminal is captured and is put into a high security prison. This prison was known to be so bleak and depressing that prisoners often committed suicide, even if they were already in a death row. This particular prisoner was sent to his cell with nothing but a deck of red backed playing cards. Daily, the security guards checked the person and the cell to find anything that can be used as a weapon, but all they found were the cards. One night, the prisoner decided he had enough and was going to take his own life. He created a lethal weapon in order to commit suicide. First, he ripped a hollow metal rail off his bed. Next, he took the 10 of diamonds, and tore it into pieces, because a red back 10D has the most red and therefore were very combustible. He took the little pieces and stuffed it into one end of the pipe. He took a broom handle and stuck it into the other end. He then filled the open end with water. He put the pipe onto a radiator and pointed the open end towards his head. The heat began to boil the water and create pressure into the tube. After a few minutes, the pressure was high enough, and the card pieces shot out straight into his head. The massive force was not much different than that of a bullet shooting out of a shot gun. The man was instantly killed.
This story sounds pretty creepy that pieces of playing cards, the things we all know and love, has become the center of such a lethal weapon. So my question is: Do you think this urban legend is true?
