What A Cool Experience!

Hey everyone out there in computer land! I just wanted to share my night with ya!

After about 25 minutes of driving in circles (not to mention the original 30 minute drive) I finally found the meeting hall where all the Houston magicians were. I walked up, met a few guys, and then walked in and sat in the back. From there on, I had such a great time! I barely had time to sit in a back seat before someone came up and kindly suggested I move on up closer. I ended up second row right up close to the lecture! There were probably give or take 30 people at the meeting.

Mr. Scott Wells (along with a few others) lectured tonight about gaffed coin magic, and gaffed coins in general! After the lecture, they started talking business stuff, and asked if there were any new guests. I was the only one to raise my hand. They had me stand up and introduce myself (which for me was nerve racking). Before I could even get my rear end back into my seat I had 3 or 4 hands reaching my way to introduce themselves and meet me. I talked with a few guys, some of which were gawking over my 125s! We shared some coin magic ideas, and talked and then another man introduced himself.

He noticed rubber bands on my wrist and asked what I do with them. I showed him raw linkage and stairway! He said he LOVED the way I performed Stairway. Then came the last part. They passed out a sign up sheet for whoever wanted to perform to sign up. They wanted me to, but I declined. All the performances went thru, and they asked if anyone else wanted to perform. About six eyes looked at me. I declined again as I was nervous. I'm not sure how they did it, but they talked me into doing stairway. I did it, and they loved it. The strange thing is that I wasn't shaking at all. Everything went great!

I ended up chatting with a few guys afterward. From what they were saying, they all hang with Danny Garcia and Marcus Eddie all the time! I found out that Danny was supposed to be there tonight, but got sick. I also found out that Michael Ammar is going to be at our meeting in February!

I just wanted to share this! I met some great people, all of which were very kind, and encouraging people. The magic community is small, but very strong! I cannot wait until the next meeting!

Cool man, I'm glad you had the kind of experience. It's also nice to see someone else who performs Stairway, I always carry rubberbands on my wrist as well! I'm sure you're gonna learn a lot.

That's awesome man! Joining a magic club is a great way to grow as a performer. You also get to learn from people who know what they're talking about. Also you get the info on cool lecture guests.

Speaking of Ammar he'll be in Dallas in February as well and Nate Kranzo in January!!

Sounds like you had a great time! Hopefully Daniel will be back to his normal self (well, we all now that's one crazy dude, but "normal" for him at least!) and you can get to meet him the next time then!

Joining a ring is definitely one of the best moves to improve upon yourself. Your skills will grow very rapidly if you seek out the right people. Don't be afraid to meet up with some of the guys outside of the club meetings as well. Just exchange email or phone numbers and say you wouldn't mind having a jam session and 9 times out of 10 they will say yes if they see you are serious about the art.

Yeah man they are all so cool. A guy named Alex (that happened to live near me) was nice enough to make sure I knew my way home. Since I didn't, he had me follow him and got me to where I knew the area. I can't wait till the meeting in January!

Congratulations on finding a club that you enjoy. There is something wonderful that happens face to face with other magicians which no information network will every truly be able to replace. The ring in Austin has been invaluable to helping me find what I want to do with magic and how to do it.

Texas has a lot of amazing magical talent who also happen to be amazing human beings. I strongly encourage you to stick with your group. :D

I've started to notice that Texas has a lot of magical talent. Mark Wilson went to high school in Dallas.

Hopefully one day I can be part of the amazing magical talent here in Texas
