What do YOU actually plan on doing with your life?

Well, I just do it for my own enjoyment. Even though I sometimes perform tricks that belong to other people, even though it's not going to help me go pro, I love the art of deception and being able to manipulate someone in the way that they think something truly magical has happened, when in reality there's a small, simple explanation. I love getting reactions, and I love seeing people appreciate the art after a performance, whether it's my own trick or not.

As for flourishing, I don't think I'll ever stop. I've been going for a while now, I'm 15, and all I have to say is, when I'm 30, I'm going to be amazing. And so will everyone else out there sincerely dedicated to the art, that doesn't stop, and doesn't take 'breaks'. I don't plan to be like- be an artist at a place like theory11 or something, just respected in the flourishing community as someone who's helped this art move forward, and introduced something new. And that's when I'm truly good, which will hopefully be in a while
The point of flourishing, even though I'm not going to make any money from it, (since the only way pretty much is to produce a dvd), is for my own enjoyment. It helps get my creative juices flowing, and it's fun experimenting with new finger positions/concepts. Same with magic. You really get to think outside the box, which can be a helpful skill in life.
Let's keep this art moving forward.

Hell, mabey I'll work at a casino when I'm 19, after all I'll have been shuffling cards, at least 6 hours a day for the past 4 years.

I don't see this thread pointless at all. Anway I wanna become famous (in my town.). But I don't wanna be known as the "rabbit magician", I wanna be known as myself who can perform magic, haha. But I don't care if I fail because magic is so fun anyway.

ANd I don't know what you're saying- first off, you say you have to work for it, and make it happen. But then you say it doesn't matter what you do? Let the art find you?

This thread is not asking you how often you perform magic.
This thread is not asking you when, where, or why you perform magic.
This thread is not asking you how much money you have spent on magic, or how little.
This thread is not telling you to describe your personal definition of magic.


This thread is asking you what you plan on doing with your knowledge of the arts. Are you (yes, YOU, that lovely, talented individual reading this) planning on making a career in the field of magic (and all that encompasses it [flourishing, etc])? If so, HOW are you planning on doing so? What steps have you taken to set yourself up for success?

And if you are NOT planning on pursuing a career in magic, WHY are you spending time, effort, and money on items in this field? What do you do with your illusions?
Note: I'm not looking for a response like "i perform for people for fun". Yes, of course you perform to people for fun. That's what magic is. Fun. Entertainment. What the hell are you planning on doing with the precious ability to create entertainment for others?

I dont see anything wrong in performing others peoples material, everyone does it even magicians on tv.

If you want to become a famous performer that has nothing to do with it, there is enough material out there already.

If you want to become famous in the magic community then you will have to be a bit more creative and release and produce magic to sell.

I would much rather be well known by the public because im a great performer rather then by the magic community because of selling tricks.

For me magic is just a hobby, although one that I take quite seriously. I'm quite happy to just perform for people I meet in College and in cafe's and bar's etc. I have no intention of becoming a professional magician.

And if you are NOT planning on pursuing a career in magic, WHY are you spending time, effort, and money on items in this field? What do you do with your illusions?

I don't see why you think 'performing for fun' isn't an appropriate answer, that's exactly why I do it. I enjoy it and my audiences enjoy it and that's enough for me. There's not really much more to it. I'm not planning on doing anything else with it.

I completely agree. Fun is exactly the reason I do it. I like entertaining people. People like being entertained. It's fun! I don't make a penny off my magic nor am I trying to. well... sometimes people wanna tip me and I won't turn it down, but I'm 21 and retiring this year. Money is the least of my worries. I wanna entertain people and have fun while doing it!

As for what I plan on doing with my life, since that was your subject title...
I'm gonna probably write some books on success principles (Leadership, People Skills, etc.). I'm gonna get involved with various ministries. I'm gonna travel. I'm gonna help others reach the same kind of success as I have...or even further! AND....I'm gonna have fun!
