Its interesting that no one has mentioned a coin shop. Look in the phone book for a coin shop and ask if you can look at their "junk" coins or their "slicks".

you can also try local banks. if you go in and ask they usually wont have them but find a nice teller and ask her or him to set them aside or contact you next time they have someone bring them in and you hit gold. i hit up my bank 1 to 3 times a month and i always come away with some great coins.
