Dude...tear it up man. They will love you. Let us know how the audition goes.
I'm getting ready to apply at a local place as well. Even though I am a teacher...we have the summer off and it is nice to get extra income.

SO i went to the restuarant, they interviewed me, like for a regular job (cause i want one of thoes too). they talked about my experience in the restaurant biz and i told them this and that. and also how im an RA at my college, so they liked that. they were then like, how are you at magic? im like. im good lol. like yea. so i showed them sponge balls, and then i showed them my fork bending routine, they were like on their feet clapping lol. well not relaly, but they were like, should we hire him? and everyone shook their heads YES. so im like cool
so hopefully i can get a full time job and do magic once or 2wice a week!.
they r gonna call me back later and tell me what their decision is.

Back in Time
actually havnt talked about that yet.
but im thking about 25 an hour
and i will take tips

Isn't 25 bucks an hour a little... too little. Lets say that you work there for awhile and find a better gig. Some other guy comes around and decides to work there but he charges more. "Well, the LAST guy worked for 25 bucks an hour plus tips." You're pretty much short changing the next guy that decides to work there. I think most charge around the highest item on the menu and just double or triple that.

yea ive been thinking of that.
its not bad tho. work 8 hours a weekend, 4 fri and 4 sat, then thats 200 easy
but then again, i havnt talked it out to them at all yet
so i still have room to move.
and i have heard the highest price on the menu and double that.
so i'll try that idea.

actually 25$ an hour plus tip isn't bad for a "new" magician working a food gig. Your experienced workers make on average 60 to 75 so your not selling yourself -too short. Gotta start somewhere, and at the least the gig pays. You'll walk out with $200+ a night easy. Good job!

thanks man, yea thats what i was thinking. but im gonna tell them i usually charge so much, but sense i work there too i'll charge less. so it sounds like im doing them a favor lol.
so hope that all works out.
they want me to do magic at their 75th anniversary weekend, so thats cool!. i need to buy some new props tho lol. and im broke! lol

Chris, I know you're trying to be a nice guy and all but I would think that you should at least be able to do 40 an hour. Just food for thought.

A lot of guys I know charge between 50-70 an hour so I think at 40 you'd still be o.k.
But...if they are completely against that....I understand to that you have to be o.k. with 25 an hour plus tips.

You may want to see if they will throw in a meal as well for you at the end of your shift. This is another way to get a nice perk.

Congrats man. Have fun.

Unless you have an active resume with past experience I wouldn't push for more. Give it 3 months then renegotiate.
