The Destiny Effect

I found it kinda pointless, threads like these in general. I, as in myself, think it would only make sense to post a video of the effect from the jump. That would shut most people up, then you'd only have to deal with the rest of the *******s.

Anyways, unless I see a video, I don't think it's "exactly" as you described. And since you're putting up new videos daily it seems, getting footage should be no problem. If I see a video of the effect with no editing, I'll retract my statement where I say I think you're over exaggerating the truth.

...said plain ole' me. :)
Steve

edit: that comes off kinda rude, so instead of re-writing it, I'll just say I didn't mean it to this time. LOL! :p

Hmmmmm.

There is a demonstration I use in my mentalism show that is extremely similar.
It is a VERY old trick. The last time I remember seeing someone else doing it was Paul Gertner on the Tonight Show.
I'll put up a demonstration of it on my YouTube account soon. See if it's the same.

well i was gona say
knowing what i know now i have definitely seen this effect numerous times
i think the first time i saw it was in sankeys hands
maybe your handling is different
but it seems you werent familiar with all of the previous versions of the trick
so it probably isnt

My video

I put a super quick version of my presentation on my YouTube account. It is in fact Ed Marlo's trick, and only God and Max Maven know where all it has been published since he created it in 12 AD.

its so weird to actually see you
anyways

i knew about this exact handling for a long time
i know how to do it
so when i read Michales description
it came to mind for a second
but i dismissed it
lets see why

A deck of cards in it's case is in full view. A spectator MERELY THINKS of any card they want. They never name it, not once. They think of it. The cards are fairly removed and spread, each and every card visible. The spectator is asked to remove their thought-of card from the spread. This card is tabled, and immediately upon doing so, the deck is turned over and it is reveal that on the back of every single card, there is a different name written boldly across. David, Megan, Sarah, Brian, and more. Their thought of card is fairly turned over. The spectator's own name is written across the back.

saying the card is tabled right after saying the spectator pulls it out is very misleading
you must always ask for the card back
so that you can place it on top of the deck...
before placing it back on the table
this action is _absolutely_ necessary
and is very visible
so it should have been in the description

i guess this is the problem i had with it
this is how a layman would describe the effect after seeing it
there is nothing wrong with that
but if you are going to talk to magicians
and have a tone which is purposed towards impressing them
ie
no gimmicks
you have to do a better job at describing what it is that the method entails
since that is the juicy part to us
and which is what we will be thinking about

Right, that's it. I'm opting out of this and all future Kras ego trips. Your comments are still appreciated indeed!

This is nothing of the sort, I can assure you. I post this sort of thing to get magician feedback, see if anyone has a history, what magicians think of the idea, etc. Along with this I also send out some private ebook copies for magicians to view and give their thoughts on. It's part of my creation process and forgive me if I gave you the wrong impression.

Hey everyone. I would just like to say that this effect is Just as described! It is amazingly well thought out and a lot of work has been put into it. So people who think that this effect is fake I can honestly vouch that it is NOT fake and is 100% legit.
