One of the most RARE deck of cards...

One Card Wonder, If I may offer my advice. "Quit while you're ahead." You made an inappropriate, and very tactless comment that you thought was funny, witty, or something close to that. Some people have lost loved ones to cancer, and they don't consider it a laughing matter. It's easy to understand how some would consider the comment to be in bad taste.

Had this be a verbal exchange of words and opinions perhaps ground could be given to assume the comment was not well thought through, but the very fact that you have the option to edit your posts at anytime, that you have to type out your replies (thus-for having to think about what you are saying) and then have to press a submit button before the post is active creates more than enough time for someone to re-consider their post. Possibly even to contemplate if what they even said would be appropriate.

You've been called out on it. Quit being defensive. Admit you were wrong, say you're sorry, take a bow and get off the stage.

I'm just trying to help you here.

LMFAO. Saying someone is about as funny as cancer is inappropriate?

The whole point is cancer is -not- funny, and neither is that guy.
ome people have lost loved ones to cancer, and they don't consider it a laughing matter. It's easy to understand how some would consider the comment to be in bad taste.

I'm sorry this is NOT relevant to what I said at -all-.

As for me I've never lost someone to cancer in my entire life. I'm one of that 3% of people that's never had that experience. (<----insert sarcasm here.) I've also never had any direct experience of cancer myself. (<------insert sarcasm here.)

Nothing I said made light of cancer, nor made light of people dying from cancer, except to some forum drama queens, and frankly there's as much chance of me apologizing to those I offended with that comment as there is of me single handily building a rocket ship and flying to the moon. Frankly I didn't offend myself and I would wager I have more experience on the subject matter than most.

This is about someone interpreting something to create forum drama because that's what gets them off, so basically I'm not wrong, and I'm not sorry, so take that bow.

Lets all just calm down, and get back to the topic. Who cares what he says, its a bloody internet forum. You can be who ever you want to be. He did not personally insult anyone. He just made his own comment, its freedom of speech.

JDEN

ps. Dane Cook, is more lame then his comment.

It is at the very least tactless. I would even go as far as to suggest insensitive.

As for me I've never lost someone to cancer in my entire life. I'm one of that 3% of people that's never had that experience. Honest. REALLY. psh.

Probably why you have no problems making such a comment. You don't understand the emotional turmoil someone goes through while battling the cancer or what their loved ones have to deal with during and after the cancer has run it's course.

No. You are right. It was just a very tasteless comment that other people in the community may not take well to.

This is about someone interpreting something to create forum drama
No, not really. I was slightly offended by your careless use of a cancer analogy. I wasn't going to say anything until I read your subsequent rebuttals. This perhaps is going further into my own history than what is needed but I have a very personal understanding of how vile cancer is. I lost my father to it you see before I was out of grammar school. You play a dangerous game when you play with things that evoke such strong emotions in people you don't know or understand. I was trying to help you by suggesting you distance yourself as much as possible from this subject before you end up saying something that makes you look like a complete jerk.

frankly there's as much chance of me apologizing to those I offended with that comment as there is of me single handidly building a rocket ship and flying to the moon. ...I'm not wrong, and I'm not sorry, so take that bow.

If you were so right, then I doubt you'd feel the need to defend yourself and position so colourfully. I'm not trying to attack you sir, I'm just trying to help you understand a point that you've missed here. If you want to dig your hole deeper be my guest, but it's not too late to save face.

Failure to detect sarcasm? Much? (I edited my post for you to make it clearer, and frankly it didn't offend me, and I'd be surprised if you had more direct experience of cancer than I have.)

What's worse is I'm feeding this drama, which is ridiculous.

Does anyone actually have an opinion about the cards?

Or maybe they should look at this rather useful link:

Or this somewhat nice summary on Decknique

D00d, you're about as funny as cancer, lol.

You can see where someone might get the impression, that you were using cancer as a funny thing. I don't wanna get involved any further to be honest, just noticed that when I read it... I also thought it was inappropriate in all honesty, but hey-ho, as long as you're right that's all that matters these days.

And, he says, in the same breath, "I'm not insulting anyone."

He also says, within the same post, "I have no experience with this at all." And then makes a judgment about said experience.

This will be my last post in this topic. Whether or not the original post in question can be considered inappropriate is a matter of personal judgment. I, having personal experience of it, would submit that it is possible to do so, and to claim in the same breath that one does not have personal experience of it, and that it is impossible to do so, smells of an argument from personal incredulity.

I still find it ironic that a member who would accuse others of pre-pubescent behaviour degenerates into a flurry of insults the moment a post is questioned or even debated. The continual stream of insults and general disparaging tone, not only towards myself is rather disappointing.

Bordering on egomaniacal, what was most interesting to see was the way in which OneCardWonder continued to insist on his being right, declaring so repeatedly, whilst in the same post, admitting that he had no actual experience of anything he was talking about. Despite this, he continues to simply assert himself being correct. Apparently, this argument was meant to be devastating. Until several others tried to point out his mistakes. Of course, having no argument, there's no apology, only a last, grudging whine. An attempt to inflate the ol' sense of righteousness.

All I can say is, I was disappointed by a maturity level in someone which saw the need for insults and inexplicably fallacious behaviour. I hear JDEN's call for calm - and yet I see only one person using condescending and elevated language.

In retrospect, I hope you never gain the knowledge you admit to not knowing, and the humility to respect what you do not know.

I suppose part of over defending yourself even in the face of being wrong is the eternal need to have the last word.

So I'll give you that which you seek the most. That last word. I'm not engaging in this for the purpose of soliciting a long and drawn out flame war. I was just trying to help you out sir, not bite your head off.

So as we were then? Shall we return to topic? I believe the discussion was about the legitimacy of a deck of antique cards.

For the 100th time......I was expressing sarcasm to point out the stupidity of your assumption that I have no experience of cancer. I will state once more, I would be extremely shocked and surprised if you had more direct experience of cancer than I did, I would also feel extremely sorry for you. So basically Praet, if you can't handle reading a word, then that's on you, not me. Once again all you've done is put your words into my mouth then rebutted the stupidity of your own argument.....way to go. Hope you have fun with that.

Now this will be my last post in this thread because reading comprehension seems on the wane here and stupidity seems on the rise. Though you have obviously got the drama that you seemingly wanted. Lol, but also some information regarding cards....

You guys all need to just shutup!!!

Yes. He made a statement that could have been interpretted poorly.

But it is true he was saying that cancer is not funny.

Now leave it alone!!!! This is not a thread, nor forum, for debating tasteless jokes or the innapropriate behaviour of children. OneCardWonder palled Prae a drooling idiotic kid, or something to that extent, but it is all of you!!! Anyone that has become involved in this ridiculous argument is a drooling idiot who has to make his point right.

William Draven, I am surprised. Usually you are smart enough to give someone advice and not get drawn into the argument. But today you have decided to get involved and turn this thread into nothing more than a proiblem.

Let's get back to the original question...
*****************************************************

People have made very good statements proving that it is highly unlikely that the cards you own are rare. The argument raised regarding the clear cellophane wrap was very convincing. Although, you should do some research for yourself do prove all of those facts.

Also, it does seem odd that you have cards with the same back design in your osh b'gosh video. That was very peculiar indeed.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread - as I feel all questions have been answered and it has gotten way off topic, at this point. I'm surprised noone reported it sooner.

Word.
