Hi,
A few weeks ago I was walking around campus and there was a guy hypnotizing a teenager. All worked well, the teenager's head dropped and then the man immediately woke him back up. A girl then approached, sat down and the guy proceeded to hypnotize her. Problem was, she started to slip off her chair onto the ground (mind you she didn't fall hard but the fact of the matter is, she fell on the ground). The guy looked a little stressed and quickly said something like your now wide awake but nothing happened. She continued to lay there, not moving. He then picked her up and started loudly saying "You are now awake!" and then she sort of opened her eyes and didn't seem very happy, more concerned and scared.
This sparked my interest in hypnosis and thus, I am toying with the idea of buying The Manchurian Approach. However, the girl falling on the ground and not waking up when told to made me a little concerned about the whole subject. What if, one day, the person I am hypnotizing doesn't wake up? The man doing the hypnotizing seemed (to my knowledge at least) try to awaken the girl correctly but to no avail. Or is this a regular thing and some people just take a little longer to wake-up?
