The more I am away from this site – the more I hate it when I come back...a good sign. I have started to write in a few threads, then deleted my words, as I am starting to see the wasted effort that goes in to helping people...and the anger that exists amongst a group, that COULD be a good group of magicians.
Hold on, just need to climb over a few egos to get to the point here.
Looking past the cards, the fact your voice sounds like it is coming over an AM radio and the hard to hear patter...the issues are more than that.
Here are the issues for you to think about – on a side note – you are not looking at your own magic critically enough, if you felt comfortable posting this. It is very different to work on magic, and improve in live performances – but putting something up that people can watch again and again – that has so many flaws – is embarrassing to magic – and should be equally as embarrassing (if not more so) to you.
I digress. Here are the issues.
1) You had no reason to add the aces back to the deck, when you added a card...except, to add a card. This needs to be motivated in your presentation – or don’t do the “mock” palm. When I do it, I just tell them about the concept – then show them the “real” work aka the effect.
2) Between dealing the aces off, and then reversing them in a way that looks like you are hiding something...because you are...is creating suspicion. You need to see this. Moreover, you spread them...square them...fiddle with the packet...then partially spread...to place down one card?
3) Almost every one of your tent vanishes flashes – your timing is off – slow down...again SLOOOOWWW DOWWWWN – speed is confusion, speed is not needed in this effect.
4) When you spread the cards or “add the invisible card” it looks like what you are doing..spreading the cards. Try using the heal of your hand to pivot the top card under your hand. It should look like you place your hand beside the one card...and another appears under your hand. Again, yours looks like you spread a double...not very magical.
5) You pick up two cards in a spread of 4...to put down 2 cards again – another wasted movement, done – just to accomplish a goal – in the PH version, you use your other hand – and put down the opposite packet – a nice displacement, that goes unnoticed because of natural handling.
6) What is going on from 1:35 to 1:40??? Totally over handled and unpractised.
7) You have NO reason to pick up the deck of cards and add the Ace of Spades – outside of your patter of “adding the card to the top to palm it off” – non-sense and mouth noise – especially considering what comes next...
8) Your rub a dub is bad – it doesn’t even look like a vanish – again – it looks like exposure.
9) You show all the cards in your hand at the end, but where someone would ACTUALLY think the card was?
In short, that effect needs much work – you have two choices now. Realize that you are getting what you asked for – feedback – it doesn’t match with your experience though. So...who are you trying to please – yourself – or your audience? You should be thanking those in this group, kind enough to watch that filth and comment on it. They are doing you a favour – because really...your lack of appreciation for the time and effort it is taking for people to set you straight is astounding. You get your back up, and in this forum, it just brings more pain. Take a second to realize that you have room to grow...that these observations aren’t crazy. Anyhow – go read Paul Harris’ Art of Astonishment, learn the handling of Invisible Paul Aces from the man that perfected it. Then, go look for others...actually, a decent handling is on the new True Astonishment videos – I will sell you my set for half price if that will mean I don’t EVER have to see something like this again.
I am not trying to be rude – but realize, nobody here hates you – they just hate bad magic. Your video is bad magic...work on it...do better. You are only truly horrible as a magician, if you don’t take the time to improve.
Good luck with your magic.
