The Buck Twins - 2010 Sorcerers Safari Summer Magic Camp

Shameless plug: for those who cannot attend the safari (which is a shame because I hear it is a great experience) Dan and Dave will be lecturing at the TAOM convention in Austin, Texas immediately following their camp appearance. So, go to Sorcerer's Safari if you can. But if you can't, pop...

As I said, I am sure Ammar would give credit. Just wanted to make sure he got a mention here.

The show features traditional magic, demonstrations of sleight of hand, and mind reading. However, those are just a means to an end. The show is really about creating an intimate space where someone's guests get caught up and lost in a moment of fun. I create a party during the show where all of...

Hi, Cedric. The Soiree is an intimate, theater style show. Meaning, it's not like strolling or hospitality style magic where you just do tricks all night. It's a real show with a beginning, middle and end - it's just a very small show, suitable for about 20 people. The show lasts about an...

    I Need Help Please!

While the original poster has made his choice, I will add this for others who may have similar experiences. I was told something very similar, many times in my youth. It comes not from a place of hatred, but a place of fear and concern which ultimately stems from love. Or at least, I hope...

What do you do if someone steals your idea?

Yes - but there is another issue being missed. First, youtube is not the place for magic. Keep it in house. Write up your trick in ebook or put a video of it and the explanation on your website. Then got to every magic forum and post: free trick. It has come to my attention that an...

What do you do if someone steals your idea?

Give your trick away for free to anyone and everyone you know (magicians). Flood the market with your original idea ands cut them off at the pass. You aren't going to see any money from your idea now anyway, might as well insure no one else does and insure you at least get the credit.

    Need an answer quick!

Actual cost will depend on exchange rate. If the item cost 35$ us then it will probably end up costing you 25 pounds or so plus a small fee for the conversions (imposed by your card company). This is a rough estimate. There are tons of currency converters online xe.com is one I think. But the cc...

    Need an answer quick!

Every major credit card I have used automatically does the currency conversion for you. Just order as you would and when you get your statement it will be adjusted for the exchange rate at time of purchase. Most cards also charge a small fee for this.

    Close-up on Letterman

just feel compelled to write this: I have been performing a routine which employs the wow device for over 3 years. I have had the sleeve questioned exactly twice and instantly squelched their suspicion. Using a gimmick is not 'asking for it'. Using a poorly developed routine wherein...

    Need advice on books.

As a book collector and borderline obsessive hoarder, I have a hard time selling books, even when I have multiple copies. However, sometimes it has to be done. From a value perspective, I am amazed at how well the Brown books have retained their value even after reprints. Of the...

    Are you an atheist?

I am glad you can simplify the entirety of atheism into one all inclusive statement. It's not presumptuous of you at all. And I did not know all atheists required scentific validation for the entirety of their belief systems. Apparently some of the athesists I know aren't doing it...

Then just produce your own show where you tell people how tricks are done and that everything they see a magician do can be bought - because that's the only thing you are going to manage to accomplish. If you want a larger community of magicians, sign up on the genii forum or magic cafe. If...

    Are you an atheist?

Unless you actually consider the history of our art. Magic began not in the theaters, but around the fire. Shamans used secret knowledge in order to create miracles. Heron of Alexandria exposed the mechanics behind the temples of ancient egypt which caused doors to open and statues to speak...

    Are you an atheist?

Actually, I get asked all the time. I think when you present truly profound things, people want to know your stance on the profound. And if religion is the ground of all being, as tillich suggests, then it will by its very nature impace the magic you do, as it will ever choice and action you...

    The Magic Castle

Castle members get access to the club any time it is open. You never have to buy a meal. Meal requirements extend to certain guest passes. I believe if you apply as a non-resident magician you can change your membership to resident status and save considerable money on initiation fees.

How to stand out among other magicians...?

Because I am pedantic this way - trailers were not the norm - but there were originally performers who entertained prior to the movie. (This was in the transition from vaudeville to the movie houses.) And then, as vaudeville completely died, they replaced the acts with cartoons and news reels...
